    Connect revenue

Connect your App Store Connect account so Reception can calculate your organization's fee from your App Store revenue. Only an organization owner can manage it, in Settings → Apps → your app → App Store Revenue, or in the Revenue step when adding an app.

    Why connect?

The connection supplies the App Store revenue used for Reception billing. Billing starts with your app's first message, not with the connection. Connect within 7 days of that message, unless your organization has free access. Reception reads your revenue back to that day, as far as Apple keeps reports (one year).

This connection does not populate individual customer metadata or present purchase screens in your app. Use Users & metadata for customer context and Paywall cards for purchase-screen integration.

    Connect

Everything is on one screen in Reception, with a link to each page in App Store Connect.

    1. Create a key: open App Store Connect and sign in. In Users and Access → Integrations, select App Store Connect API. If you see Request Access, the Account Holder must request access first. Once approved, open Team Keys and click Generate API Key, or + if you already have keys. Enter any name, choose the access Sales and Reports and click Generate. Then click Download API Key and add the file in Reception. Reception reads the key ID from the file name.

    2. Issuer ID: at the top of the same page, above your keys.

    3. Vendor number: in Payments and Financial Reports, at the top left.

Click Continue, choose your app and click Connect.

Only an Account Holder or Admin can create team keys. Individual keys cannot read sales reports.

    What access do we get?

Reception accepts only keys with the Sales and Reports role and refuses keys with more access. Reception only reads; it never changes anything in your account.

A sales report covers every app of the account. Reception stores only the numbers of the apps you connect. For each connected app it stores what customers paid per day and currency, and that day's total in USD. It also stores the app's App Store ID, SKU, name and bundle ID, the encrypted key, the connection status and billing audit records. The key is never displayed again after you save it.

    After you click Connect

Reception connects the app and starts loading its revenue. You see Connected when the connection is saved; the amount appears once all reports for its 30-day preview are available. Nothing is saved if the key is refused; your inputs stay and you can try again.

The amount is what customers paid (Apple's customer price, times units), after refunds, before Apple's commission. Each currency is converted to USD at that day's exchange rate. Refunds count on the day Apple reports them.

Revenue updates automatically as Apple's daily reports become available.

    More apps and accounts

Apps in the same App Store Connect account share one key: when you connect the next app, choose the account instead of adding a key again. An app from another account needs its own key.

Change app, replace a key or disconnect

Open App Store Revenue in your app's settings:

    • Change app connects a different App Store app or account and reads days outside finalized billing periods again. Finalized statements stay unchanged.

    • Replace key asks only for a new key file of the same account, for example after you revoked the old one.

    • Disconnect stops reading revenue for this app. Stored days stay. The key is deleted once no app uses it. You can also revoke the key in App Store Connect. Disconnecting does not cancel billing, and support chat continues to work.

    If a connection needs attention

Key not working means Apple rejected the key or it lost its role. Replace it with a new Sales and Reports key. If Apple isn't responding, Reception retries automatically and you don't need to do anything.

See When billing needs attention for deadlines and affected features.

Something not working? Write to us in the Support chat. We're happy to help. Briefly describe what happens and any error message you see. Never include your key file in your message.
